Digital Technologies and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS).
This thematic paper explores how digital technologies are reshaping the YPS agenda, highlighting both the opportunities and risks that emerge as youth participation increasingly shifts to online and hybrid spaces. Submitted as a contribution to the Second Independent Progress Study on Youth, Peace and Security, it brings forward the need to better reflect these digital realities in peacebuilding policy and practice.
Authored by Giampaolo Servida and Luca Omar Tancredi, the paper examines the growing importance of digital and cyber dimensions in shaping youth participation, peacebuilding, and conflict dynamics. It argues for the integration of Cyber Peacebuilding into the YPS agenda as a necessary framework to address online harms, strengthen resilience, and support meaningful youth engagement in an increasingly digital world.
